A LARGE crowd of football supporters was escorted away from Newport city centre by police with dogs ahead of the County v Swindon Town game today.
Supporters of the visitors - making up part of one of the largest away comntingents to visit Rodney parade this season - gathered in the Upper Dock Street area of the city centre ahead of the 3pm kick off.
However, as the fans made their way over Newport Bridge police, some with dogs, were at the scene controlling the crowd.
Fans could be heard chanting but staff at the Windsor Castle pub in Upper Dock Street - report there had been "no trouble".
County are currently leading play-off chasing Swindon - who are down to 10 men - 2-1.
