TWO men have appeared in court in a murder case over the alleged killing of a 57-year-old Newport man who was found dead at a house in the city.
One of the men, Paul Paget, 54, of Brynderwen Road, Newport, has been charged with the murder of Anthony Bubbins and with burglary in January.
Co-defendant Steven Appleton, 32, of Seabreeze Drive, also from the city, is charged with burglary and supplying Class B drugs.
Both were due to be arraigned at Cardiff Crown Court where they were expected to enter a plea.
But the case was adjourned until April 30.
Paget was represented by David Elias, QC, and Appleton’s barrister was Scott Bowen.
The prosecutor was Caroline Rees, QC.
Judge Neil Bidder, QC, adjourned the case until April 30 and remanded both defendants in custody.
The court heard that a three-week provisional trial has been set to start on June 11 at Newport Crown Court.
