A man has died following a 'serious accident' involving a motorbike and a car which has closed the A468 in both directions this morning (Thursday, April 19).
Gwent Police were called to the crash, in Lower Machen, Caerphilly, between Royal Oak (Lower Machen) and Pentre Tai Road (Rhiwderin) at 7.50am.
It has been confirmed that the driver of the motorcycle has died as a result of his injuries.
The driver of the car is currently receiving medical treatment, but police say his condition is unknown.
The A468 remains closed between Rhiwderin and the Draethen turnoff.
A spokesman for Gwent Police said: "We received reports of a road traffic collision between a motorcyclist and a car at around 7.50am this morning, Thursday 19th April 2018. The incident happened on the A468 in Lower Machen.
"Sadly, the male driver of the motorcycle has died as a result of his injuries. The driver of the car is receiving medical treatment and his condition is not yet known.
"Specialist officers are working at the scene to investigate the circumstances of the collision and the road is closed between Rhiwderin and the Draethen turnoff."
Bus services between Newport and Caerphilly are affected by the closure.
