THE inaugural Newport Marathon is almost here, and the city is getting ready to play host tens of thousands of runners and spectators.

But with more than 10,000 runners taking part and around 20,000 expected to line the streets in support, it's fair to say there is going to be some disruption on the roads.

We've rounded up every major road closure, possible alternative routes, and available parking options to give you the best chance of avoiding any painful delays.

Which roads will be closed be closed for the marathon?

These roads will be closed at various periods during the day:

A4042 Heidenheim Drive (southbound) – from off-slip to Harlequin roundabout to Kingsway

A4042 Kingsway

A4042 Uskway

A4042 – unnamed link from Harlequin roundabout to A4042 Heidenheim Drive

A4042 – slip road from Old Green roundabout to A4042 Kingsway

A48 (SDR) – between Church Street roundabout to Nash Road roundabout – including city bridge

A48 (SDR) – westbound only – between Leeway and Nash Road roundabouts

Where can I park?

Participants have been advised of parking options and a dedicated pre-book park and ride will be in operation.

Kingsway car park will be open as usual and Park Square car park will open for the day.

Friars Walk, Riverfront and Emlyn Street car parks will be closed.
