Gwent Police officers have asked residents to be vigilant and to make sure they are security conscious.

A spokesman said: "Please be aware of any random callers who may be in your neighbourhood knocking doors asking for work/offering garden or guttering services.

"Also, consider whether you have recently advertised items for sale on websites, be careful not to include your full address.

"Have you noticed any unusual activity in your street recently? Have you seen unfamiliar people or vehicles loitering nearby?

"Please be aware that criminals could be waiting for you to leave your property or monitoring your routine."
