GWENT Police have confirmed that a Cwmbran man was killed in crash this week.

On Tuesday police received reports of a road crash with a fatality on Groesonen Road close to the Steel Horse café junction in Llanvihangel Gobion.

The collision happened at 10.15am and involved a motorcycle and a van.

The driver of the van received minor injuries and is recovering at home.

Gwent Police said that the motorcycle rider was Philip Mark Kembrey, who was 44 and from Cwmbran.

A tribute was given by Mr Kembrey's family, who said: “It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing the tragic death of our very much loved family member, Philip Mark Kembrey.

"Philip was a family man and lived a private life, due to him being a such a private person as a family we are finding releasing this statement extremely hard.

"Philip tragically lost his life, but he did it doing what he loved most and that was in his words 'going for a run' on his motorbike.

"As a family we wish for our privacy to be respected at this time.

"Good night God bless Philip - father, son, brother, uncle and great nunky Phil. You are now finally reunited with your beloved father.

"Sleep tight until we meet again.”

Officers are investigating the circumstances of the collision and are asking for anyone who has any information to call 101 quoting log 143 3/7/18.
