A SPONSORED walk for a cancer hospice arranged by the family and friends of a Gwent AM who is currently being treated for the disease will be held this weekend.
In December South Wales East AM Steffan Lewis announced he had been diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer - at just 33 years old.
And, in thanks for the treatment he has been given by Cardiff-based Velindre Cancer Care, the Plaid Cymru AM's sister Nia arranged a fundraising walk to raise cash for the charity, which will be held on Saturday, July 14.
And the event has already raised more than £7,000 - more than twice its initial target of £3,000.
Politicians of all colours - as well as Argus politics reporter Ian Craig - are taking part in the 11.5 mile walk, which will leave from Cwmcarn Forest Visitor Centre and take in a route around the area, ending in Blackwood.
