The Ship Inn, Caerleon
If it’s a family-friendly pub that you’re after, then this is somewhere that you must visit. With good food at reasonable prices and with friendly and helpful staff, you can’t go wrong. Tom Whittaker said: “The Ship Inn in Caerleon is a good one with kids.”

Oddfellows Arms, Newport
This is a community focused pub in the back streets of Maindee, Newport. It is the perfect place for that traditional layout you would expect to see from a public bar and lounge. It also has a spacious garden in the back.

Wain-Y-Clare, Pontypool
The refurbished outdoor area at the Wain-Y-Clare has proved popular. Throughout the summer there are lots of events including a beer and cider festival on August 4 and 5, barbecues and music.

The Coach and Horses Inn, Caerwent
The pub is surrounded by history and has plenty of space for people to enjoy a pint in the sun. There is also a play area for children, so everyone can enjoy the surroundings. Sallie Mogford said: “The Coach and Horses in Caerwent has a huge beer garden with lots of play equipment.”

The St Julian Inn, Newport
Sitting alongside the river Usk on the main road from Newport through Caerleon, the St Julian is a large pub. Apart from a big internal bar area, it has a balcony and outdoor tables spreading around their gardens and lawns.

The Grofield, Abergavenny
In the centre of Abergavenny, you’ll find one of Gwent’s favourite beer gardens. If you’re looking for something a little quieter and more relaxed, then this beer garden is for you. It has a grassed area, patio and covered decking, because no matter how hot it is, you can’t always rely on the weather.

The Potters, Newport City Centre
This is one of Newport’s most popular beer gardens. The garden had a massive refurbishment last year and has been a favourite with regulars ever since. With music and delicious food available, it’s a beer garden that always makes the list.

The Castell y Bwch, Cwmbran
This pub has spectacular views of the local countryside and has a brand new outside area and bar where you can relax.. The traditional country pub has a garden with plenty of space and a good menu which always attracts the locals.

The Anchor is situated alongside the River Wye and is the perfect pub for families as the garden has a children play area. Walkers with dogs are also welcome.
