NINE people are in hospital following a serious accident.

A Gwent Police spokesman said that the accident involved a car and bus on the A48 near Chepstow,  near to St Pierre Golf Club.

A spokesperson for the Welsh Ambulance Service said that they conveyed people to Nevill Hall hospital in Abergavenny and to Royal Gwent hospital in Newport.

A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: “At approximately 3.45pm yesterday, Monday, September 3, Gwent Police received a report of a two vehicle RTC involving a car and coach on the A48, near to St Pierre Golf Club in Chepstow.

“Officers, along with South Wales Fire & Rescue and Welsh Ambulance Service attended the scene.

“The female driver of the car, a 72-year-old woman from the area, was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital. Her injuries are not considered to be life threatening or life changing.

“Eight passengers from the coach were taken to Nevill Hall and The Royal Gwent Hospital with minor injuries. 

“Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call Gwent Police on 101 quoting log number 322 03/09/18”

South Wales Argus:

The Ambulance Service received the call at 3.44pm and a Harts vehicle, a helicopter, two ambulances and three outpatient vehicles were at the scene.

The road was closed both ways from B4245 (Parkwall Roundabout) to A466 Wye Valley Link Road (Highbeech Roundabout).

There is congestion to A466 Wye Valley Road heading back towards the M48 Junction 2.

People are reporting long delays in the area and police say that the road will be closed until 7.30pm.

Newport Bus Services are diverting through Shirenewton.
