A NEWPORT fish and chip shop has unveiled a new look after a car crashed through its wall.

A car crashed through the outside wall of Pie Corner Fish Bar in April, prompting its owner to undertake refurbishment works.

Beatrix Hughes said: “We had a bit of a disaster when the car came through the wall. It was looking really shabby for a while.”

The wall was rebuilt, and graffiti artist R.Mer came in to create a new mural for the new wall. “

“We went for an underwater theme,” added Ms Hughes. “We wanted something that would stand out.

“I think people are happier to come in now because it looks so much better. Everyone’s commenting on it and saying how nice it looks.

“It was a difficult period when it looked so awful.

“We were having to apologise about the mess to customers. This gives us a fresh image.”

The business is currently awaiting the results of an appeal after their plans for extended opening hours on Sundays and bank holidays were rejected.
