A ROAD was closed and a boy was taken to hospital this morning following a crash.
A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: "At 8.34am this morning, Gwent Police received a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision with a young boy on Pontygwindy Road in Caerphilly.
“Officers and South Wales Ambulance Service attended the scene.
“The road was shut for a short period of time while paramedics treated the 11-year-old boy. He was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
“The driver, a 19-year-old woman from the local area is now assisting Gwent Police with their enquiries.”
Cllr James Pritchard rang the school and contacted parents after being informed. He said;
"I spoke to the Head Teacher of Ysgol Gymraeg Caerffili at 9:10am this morning. The Head teacher said a boy from the Y Gwyndy site has been knocked down on his scooter on Pontygwindy Road.
"He's alive and three members of staff are with him at present. My thoughts are with the boy and his family and I hope things turn out to be okay".
