A FORMER boxer has released an emotional tribute to his father and former coach on social media.

Joe Calzaghe shared the tribute where he said his dad Enzo will “always in my heart” and said he was his “best friend.”

Enzo Calzaghe, who was born in Italy, had been in ill health and died on September 17 aged 69. The Calzaghe family released a statement to announce his death.

The boxer's tribute to his father said:

"Dad I miss you so much. Thank you for always being there for me. I'm blessed having you as my dad and my best friend.

You were my teacher, mentor and will always be my hero. You picked me up when I didn't believe in myself, and you made me believe.

Without you nothing would of been possible. I thank God you was with me by my side all the way through my life.

You supported me through the highs and lows & taught me how being a great dad should be. You will be missed everyday. You are always in my heart & will continue to be by my side throughout my life.

I Love you always & forever Dad."

On Saturday the traditional ten bells sounded at Wembley Stadium ahead of Anthony Joshua’s world heavyweight title bout with Alexander Povetkin in tribute to Enzo Calzaghe.
