Newport City Dogs Home have two rather special youngsters looking for their perfect forever homes

Cocker spaniels Benji and Jake are one year old litter-mates, and although they have lived together in relative harmony as young pups the staff have noticed that they occasionally have brotherly spats (litter-mate syndrome) so they will need to be rehomed separately.

Benji and Jake would love active homes. They could live with other dogs if the chemistry is right, or could be an 'only dog child' but applicants who own or who have previously owned a high energy dog with a high maintenance coat will be preferred.

So we're sorry but Benji and Jake won't be considered for first-timers or old-timers as these boys are going to need plenty of exercise to keep them from getting bored. A tired dog is a happy dog.

The staff have enlisted the help of local groomers to get the boys looking their best before they meet their public on the weekend. Taking care of a cocker-coat can be time-consuming and expensive. Nicola and Judie of Muddy Pawz have very kindly offered to bring two of their mobile grooming vans to Newport City Dogs Home this week for some emergency haircuts. Sorry Benji, but that mullet is so 1970's.

If you would like to apply to adopt Benji or Jake you will need to provide a veterinary reference for a dog you own or have previously owned, and also a grooming reference.
