THE wait for Newport's eighth food festival is nearly over, with it set to be bigger than ever.

Tiny Rebel Food and Drink Festival will be between 9am and 5pm, on Saturday, and is brimming with food, entertainment and chef demos.

The free event, will have more than 80 stalls offering baked goods, dairy products, sweet food, savoury food, spices, alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks, and more.

Chef demos will take place throughout the day, at Newport Market, the Pobl Group offices in High Street, and, for the first time, at Usk Plaza in Friars Walk.

Hywel Jones, from Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa in Chippenham, is a regular patron, and said: “I’m glad to say local chefs will be demonstrating just why the food scene in Newport is thriving.

"I’ll be cooking upstairs, in the market, at midday, so if you're around come and say hello."

You can read the full line-up of chef demos here.

Entertainment on the day includes live music by jazz ensemble Wonderbrass, inflatable chefs on stilts joined by chirruping chic eggs, a balloon modelling magic chef, and

children's facepainting and colouring activities, in the market, which is provided by Newport City Council's (NCC) Flying Start team

The day will also host the Teen Chef Final, sponsored by Celtic Manor, at Newport Market, at 11am.

Leader of NCC, Councillor Debbie Wilcox, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming people of all ages to the festival, which promises to have something for everyone, from fabulous food and drinks that will be on sale, to street entertainment, chef demos, and the chance to try something new.

“I would also like to thank our main sponsors, the award winning brewers Tiny Rebel, for their support for the third year running, and Newport Now, the Celtic Manor and Friars Walk for their support.

“Fingers crossed the weather will be kind to us. I hope the stallholders have a very successful day and visitors a fabulous experience.”
