Residents in Bedwas are being asked to give their views on plans for new car parking.

The consultation is being carried out by the team responsible for delivering environmental improvements as part of Caerphilly County Borough Council’s £220 million Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS) improvement programme.

As well as bringing council owned homes in the county borough up to WHQS by 2020, the programme will also see around £10 million invested into the wider environment around tenants’ homes.

A recent drop in event was held at Bedwas and Trethomas Community Hall to provide residents with the opportunity to give their views on proposed plans for the provision of new car parking in the areas of Bryn Heol, Bryn Canol,Bryn Fedw and Bryn Awel.

Ward councillors June Gale, Elizabeth Aldworth and Derek Havard attended the event, along with Cllr Lisa Phipps, local ward member and Cabinet Member for Homes and Places.

Cllr Phipps said “Concerns have been raised about parking in this area for some time; the council’s WHQS environmental improvement programme now provides the opportunity to offer a solution for the local community. I would encourage all residents living in this area to give their views on the plans, as their feedback will be key to whether the proposals go ahead.”

Residents who were unable to attend the event can ask any questions they have about the plans and give their views by contacting Bethan Smith, WHQS Environmental Officer, on 01443 864398 or by emailing tenantinvolvement@caerphilly.gov.uk. Plans will also be able for viewing and feedback from 8th to 22nd October at the offices of Bedwas, Trethomas and Machen Community Council, Newport Road, Bedwas.
