THE weekend is here and there's plenty happening in Gwent to keep you entertained. Here is a round-up of some exciting events happening this weekend.

• A new venue in Newport is celebrating its launch weekend. Musique Lounge, based on Market Street, will officially launch from 8pm on Friday evening. Entry is free, with last entry at 1am, with no hoods, caps or sportswear allowed. Music will include RnB, hip hop, old skool garage, soul, funky, tech, reggae, soul, or anything with a groove. • Newport Food Festival, hosted by Newport City Council and sponsored by Tiny Rebel Brewery, is returning to Newport city centre for its eighth year, on Saturday. There will be more than 80 stalls on High Street offering up mouth-watering food and drinks. Plus the day will be full of entertainment and chef demos, at Newport Market, Pobl headquarters on High Street and - for the first time- at Usk Plaza in Friars Walk. • Dragon Daze Game Convention Comic Con is coming to Newport Leisure Centre, on Saturday. There will be more than 40 stalls, hundreds of games to play for free, plus prizes up for grabs for the best cosplay. Best adult costume will win £50, and best children's costume will win £25. Money raised through this event supports children's charities in South Wales. Entry is £7.50, or £5 for children over the age of 11.

• On Saturday, blues musician, Guy Tortora will be performing in the Borough Blues Club at Cwmbran RFC, on Off Station Road. The action starts at 7.30pm, with tickets for £10, or £8 for members.
