FREE art workshops, in preparation for the city’s first Chartist festival, are being hosted this weekend.

On Saturday, October 13, RISE Propaganda is hosting ‘art of rebellion’ workshops at Newport Market, with rebels joining forces to learn about stencilling and banner making.

There will be two workshops: one between 10am and 12.30pm which is fully booked, and another between 1.30pm and 4pm.

The workshops, appropriate for people aged 14 and over, can fit 20 people and will take place in Newport Market’s Gallery Space.

Stencils made in the workshops will be used to spray on a derelict build, as part of an art piece for Newport Rising festival, which is between November 2 and November 4.

Banners made at the workshop will be featured in the Chartist march re-enactment, which is on November 3.

Spaces are still left for the afternoon workshop, and will be dished out on a first come first served basis.
