THE new single by musician Jack Perrett will be played on Huw Stevens' BBC Radio 1 this Sunday (October 21) as part of the station's Introducing programme, which showcases the best of Britain's unsigned talent.

Like A Fever is a catchy new song from Mr Perrett, the singer-songwriter who made waves in the summer with Portlife, his Newport-based version of a Blur classic.

"I was buzzing when I heard it’d be played on Radio 1," Mr Perrett said. "That was the aim when we recorded the song and it’s nice to achieve it.

"Lyrically the song is about people who seem to love going out every Saturday night wasting their money in the same places."

The song is currently available on Spotify, and will be fully released on December 7.

Like A Fever's memorable guitar riff was one Mr Perrett had been working on for a while, he said.

He said he was "mainly influenced by bands like The Jam And Arctic Monkeys, I think, with this song."

A music video by Focus Shift Films' Dan Harris, who also produced the Portlife video, will be released on October 30.

Mr Perrett's next Newport gig will be in Tiny Rebel, as part of the Newport Rising Festival, on Sunday, November 4.
