HALF TERM is here and Cadw have some fang-tastic activities planned, including three in Gwent.

There are activities being hosted at Caerphilly Castle, Raglan Castle, and Blaenavon Ironworks, along with other activities being held throughout Wales.

Guests are sure to have an ‘a-maze-ing’ time at Caerphilly Castle, with a haunted maze open for one night only.

Gilbert’s Maze, which opened in August, will be transformed into a terrifying labyrinth on October 27, allowing guests to wander through the night, avoiding the Green Lady, the Red Sceptre, and other ghostly characters.

This is suitable for people aged 7+ and for the little ones (or less brave) there will be a range of free family fun at the Castle on October 27 and October 28.

This will include crafts, spooky games, pumpkin carving, apple bobbing, witch-hunts and medieval ghost busting.

Activities are free, except for the Maze which is £5 per person. Tickets must be pre-booked on Eventbrite, or by phoning: 02920 883 134.

Alternatively, witches and wizards can hop on their broomsticks and get to Raglan Castle, taking a break from Muggle studies to attend the School of Magic, complete with creepy characters.

Dress up is encouraged, including magic wands to cast spectacular spells, and the day will be loaded with spell-binding games and awesome activities.

Raglan Castle School of Magic will be open between 11am and 4pm on October 27 and October 28. Admittance into Raglan Castle is £6.90 for adults or £4.10 for students and children under 16.

A family ticket, which admits two adults and up to three children, is £20.

Alternatively, members of Cadw get free access to Cadw sites. Information on how to apply is included at the end of this article.

For the little detectives, Blaenavon Ironworks will offer the perfect opportunity to explore and have fun, with Halloween themed trails being hosted over the holidays.

These will be between 10am and 4pm on October 28, October 29, and on Halloween, on October 31.

Entry to the site is free, but it's £2 per person for the Trail, with the first 150 to complete it winning a prize.

For adults, there is the opportunity to take part in Haunted History and Folklore Evening Tours, at the Ironworks, on October 28, October 31, and November 4.

These will be between 7pm and 9pm, and can be pre-booked by phoning Blaenavon Ironworks, on: 01495 792615.
