CHILDREN at a Newport school had a taste of traditional Germany when a group of dancers paid them a visit.

Swabische Trachtengruppe are folk dancers from Newport's twin town of Heidenheim, and they came to Lliswery School in Nash Road on Friday.

The group held a series of workshops and demonstrations and encouraged the pupils to join them in traditional German costume.

They have been invited to Wales by Gwerinwyr Gwent Welsh dance group.

Member Robert Agg said: "The visit to the school went very well, the group met with various classes in the school and the children really liked it.

"The Heideheim dancers have adult and junior classes so they've worked in schools before.

"On Saturday night we had a social evening to celebrate twinning and the group are due to return to German this morning."
