AROUND 100 people jumped on their bikes yesterday to help raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Olympic athlete Jamie Baulch set the riders off, and Newport mayor Allan Morris was among those taking part in the bid to raise more than £10,000.
The 'Get on Your Bike' event was organised by fundraiser Stacey Gillard, 22, of St Julians, who has lost two family members to cancer.
Cyclists chose between a 15-mile ride through St Brides, Marshfield and Wentlooge or shorter five mile route for families and children.
Baulch said: "I am proud to support this event in aid of Cancer Research UK , the cause is very important to me."
Miss Gillard, who works for a civil engineering company, had support from Eden Springs, who donated bottled water to the event, and Barclays bank, who have agreed to match the amount Miss Gillard and her family raise.
