AS World Cup fever gripped Gwent, hundreds of people packed a valleys rugby club to meet some of New Zealand's former stars.

Ten former All Black players gathered at Blaina's sports bar as part of a whistle-stop tour of Wales.

The group hosted a charity gala night on Sunday to raise money for the TLC Foundation and the Wooden Spoon appeal.

The TLC Foundation was set up in memory of Wales star Brent Cockbain's son Toby Lloyd Cockbain to help children suffering from various disabilities and Wooden Spoon is a rugby charity, supported by past and present players, who help mentally, physically and socially disadvantaged children.

Former Jonah Lomu manager and sports agent Phil Kingsley-Jones led the charity tour to his home town in a bid to raise thousands for the two good causes.

Players include Victor Simpson, Bernie Frazer, Walter Little, Stephen Basster, Junior Tonu'u, Steven MacDowell, John Drake, Jock Ross, Mark Shaw and Joeli Vidir.

The night was a huge success and the club was parted with more than 200 guests.

It is hoped the event has helped raise hundreds for the charities.
