COMMUNITY CENTRE: The chairman and committee extend their sincere apologies for the cancellation of the Annual General Meeting scheduled for Monday September 10. This was due to circumstances beyond their control, and the re-schedule is for Monday, October 1, 2007 at 1pm at the community centre.
DRATA: The next meeting is Monday, October 1, 2007, at the community centre at 7pm, and this will also be the Annual General Meeting. Everyone is welcome.
DUFFY: We would like to extend our grateful thanks to Kathy Brown, of Barclays Charity Society, who has very kindly sent us a cheque to enable us to purchase another "Duffy".
When this is purchased and ready for planting we will be inviting this society to the ceremony. We would also like to point out that there will be a different method next time to stop any further taking from the roundabout.
DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARDS: On Wednesday, September 12, we attended the Riverside theatre where these awards were presented to the pupils of different schools. Councillor Trevor Watkins was delighted to present the awards to Duffryn High School pupils, who did extremely well.
It was a lovely evening and thanks to all those who attended and to the youth who gave their time and effort.
MOTORWAY ACCIDENT: We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the families of the youths who were involved in the tragic accident, and also to the family of the two people who were in the other car.
This was a tragic waste of lives and we hope this will convey to others the destruction that can be caused when driving any form of vehicle.
