More people started looking for a new job when Jose Mourinho left Chelsea Football Club, a report has claimed.

A study by job search website fish4jobs showed a 6% increase in the number of people looking for a new post on the same day that Mourinho quit.

There were almost 180,000 job searches last Wednesday, 11,000 more than average.

Joe Slavin, chief executive of fish4jobs, said the research suggested there was a "Mourinho effect" on the employment market.

"Jose Mourinho has had a profound impact on football in the UK and our statistics show that jobseekers have been equally touched."
