IN an ever-changing world, Gwent Wildlife Trust is dedicated to safeguarding and preserving our natural habitat for now and the future.

Green issues are now hot but for years the charity has worked tirelessly, and without much fanfare, to protect the environment around us.

The charity is about to embark on its most ambitious project and it is again appealing to Argus readers to support this important venture.

In 1991, you came up trumps by helping to raise £150,000 in just six weeks for it to buy Pentwyn Farm - now a flagship reserve - and two years ago you also backed the Woodland Trust's successful bid to save Wentwood Forest.

Once again you are being asked to dig in your pockets to help the Trust raise more than half a million pounds to buy the 100-acre Glyn Farm and create a lasting legacy for the people of Gwent and beyond.

While it will take around 100 years to develop the area fully, chief executive Julian Branscome believes Gwent has a very special opportunity to watch our countryside enrich itself as our children grow up.

We also believe this is an investment well worth making and are happy to support this important appeal.
