IN commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the armistice, three rural villages in Newport have organised a tribute in honour of the sixty soldiers from those areas who fought in the First World War.

Villagers in Whitson, Goldcliff, and Nash Firstly have organised an exhibition to take place in St Mary the Virgin Church Nash, where there will be tributes to the Allies and their sacrifice.

The second part of the exhibition will take place in the adjacent village hall, which will tell the story of the war.

Susan Waters, who helped arrange the exhibition, said: "I do hope you find this of interest. We would so like people to learn more about rural areas, not only the urban districts.

"This exhibition has been self-funded by the generosity of the local communities through fundraising and donations.

"Please come along."

It will be taking place from November 8 - 11.
