Isn't technology wonderful, I'm on a train between London and Cardiff writing this on my mobile phone before sending it to my e-mail account at Real Radio.

Incredible.

I am very lucky as I got to spend some time with the Stereophonics earlier today recording an interview which you'll hear soon.

That was the easy part. Getting there was a bit of a trial as I will explain.

The day doesn't get off to a good start when your early morning bus takes a right turn before the bus stop and is never seen again.

Excellent.

So I run home to get the car to drive to the station and hopefully make it on time.

Traffic's light so I arrive with time to spare.

I park at the station car park to discover an all day charge of £7.20 (bit of an odd number don't you think), and guess what, the machine doesn't take notes or give change.

That's the where the odd 20p in the charge comes in, a nice little earner from all those people who don't have the correct change or time to go and get it.

So it's into the station to get change, back to the car park for the ticket, back to the station for the train, back to the car when I realise I've left my mobile phone there and finally back to the station and the journey starts.

Hurrah.

The rest of the day is most enjoyable including a very nice stroll through Kensington Gardens on my way back to the station when for some reason I managed to miss the Castle completely. Not quite sure how, it's big enough.

I did what I thought would make my day easier, I gave public transport to help me on my way and it let me down.

Next time it won't even get the chance.
