A WOMAN who was found dead on a bank of the River usk near Abergavenny this morning, has been named as 82-year-old Anwen Elliott, who was reported missing yesterday afternoon.
Her body was discovered at shortly before 8am this morning, after Gwent Police responded to reports of a person on the riverbank near the Llanfoist Bridge on the A4143 Merthyr Road.
Emergency services attended and it was confirmed that pensioner, from Mardy, Abergavenny, who had dementia, was dead.
She had last been seen at around 2.30pm yesterday near the Lamb and Flag pub on the A40, walking in the direction of Crickhowell.
Police are not treating the death as suspicious, and her next of kin have been informed.
