GWENT Police are appealing for information following a serious assault of a woman in Cwmbran.

The incident took place on Thursday, November 1, at about 11.30pm, in the Penylan Fields area of Cwmbran.

A Gwent Police spokesman said: "Detectives are appealing for information following a serious assault on a lone female in the Penylan Fields area of Cwmbran.

"A 40-year-old woman was walking through the grassy area, from Fairwater shops towards her home in Coed Eva, when she was attacked opposite the entrance to the Farlays estate.

"The offence happened at approximately 11.30pm on Thursday, November 1, 2018 - exactly one week ago.

"She was approached by an unknown male who knocked her to the ground and physically assaulted her. He ran off when she fought back.

"The suspect is described as a white male, aged between 35 and 45, approximately 6ft 3in tall, with a medium to large build. He had a curly dark blonde beard and moustache, was wearing a thick woollen beanie hat pulled close to eyes, and had blonde hair protruding to the rear of his hat. He had yellowing teeth which had gaps at the front, wore a black coloured waterproof anorak with a hood which came just below his waist, and wore dark coloured bottoms.
