MILITARY staff and cadets have been busy preparing for Armistice day, which also marks the centenary of the end of World War I.
This includes the First Monmouth squadron of the Air Cadets, who host parades at Raglan Barracks on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and will be part Remembrance Parade, in the city centre.

Flight Sergeant, Sarah Griffiths, who has been involved with Cadets for 17 years, said: “The cadets have been busy practicing their drill and preparing their uniforms.
“They’ve been learning the history of Armistice day and why it’s so special, which is important as a lot of them may not know a lot about the military.
“For a lot of them this will be their first public parade, so it’ll be lovely for their parents to see them looking smart, marching in their uniform.”
The squadron will be joined by army cadets and other military organisations, plus Scots and Brownies, at the parade through Newport city centre on Sunday.
This will see them parade, led by Boys Brigade band, from High Street to the Cenotaph, where wreaths and crosses will be laid.
