THOUSANDS of people are expected to turn out across Gwent and brave the wet weather to remember the ultimate sacrifice given by millions of soldiers across Britain today.
Poignant services and marches will be commencing from 10.30am to mark 100 years since the armistice of World War One.
The remembrance parade in Newport is just one of many across Gwent.
The parade will start on the High Street at 10.30am and march to the cenotaph for a service.
The service will take place at Newport cenotaph at 10.58am, with the guns sounding at 11am to mark the start of the two-minute silence.
After the two-minute silence, a wreath-laying ceremony will be led by the lord lieutenant, Brigadier Robert Aitken.
