TWELVE households in Newport still hold black and white television licences, new figures have shown.

The latest figures released by TV Licensing show there are more than 300 black and white licences still in force across Wales, and fewer than 10,000 across the UK - although number have been dropping steadily.

Monmouthshire has the third-highest number of monochrome licences in Wales with 23. Cardiff has the most in Wales, with 43, followed by Carmarthenshire with 28.

London has the greatest number of black and white TV licences in the country, with 1,768.
