THE Welsh Assembly is set to be re-named the Senedd, while AMs will be re-branded as Members of the Senedd - or MSs - it has been announced.
The plans were announced by presiding officer Elin Jones in a letter to AMs this afternoon, and come after the Assembly voted to introduce a bill changing its own name last month.
In the letter Ms Jones said a bill including the name change will be introduced to the Assembly early next year. It will need a 'super majority' of at least 40 votes to be passed.
It had previously been announced the Assembly was to be re-named the Welsh Parliament - or Senedd Cymru in Welsh - but today's letter appears to override that.
Ms Jones also announced plans to bring forward legislation making the Electoral Commission accountable to, and financed by, the Assembly.
