A YOUNG boy has sold more than £200 worth of home-made poppies in a bid to raise money for Royal British Legion.

Theo Williams, who lives in Caerleon, has spent the last few weeks selling as many poppies as possible.

The 10-year-old decided to do so after learning about the World Wars at Caerleon Lodge Hill Primary School.

He said: “I wanted to make the poppies after learning about them in school.

“We are learning about the war and it made me want to know more about it.”

Theo then made poppies out of red felt and sold them for £1.

He originally aimed to raise £50, but the total is £208.

He said:” I am really happy with what I have raised.

“In the beginning the poppies took about 20 minutes to make - but later I could do them in five minutes."

And mum Jenni Williams added: "I am really pleased for Theo.

"This was his own initiative.

"He should feel very proud of himself."
