A FORMER Wales footabll star will be switching on the Christmas lights in Cwmbran tomorrow.

Former defender Danny Gabbidon will be turning on the magic at the Cwmbran Centre.

Cwmbran Centre will be holding their annual Christmas light switch on in Monmouth Square from 5pm onwards.

Head down to rub shoulders with the likes of Mrs Christmas, cheeky elves and even Santa himself.

Live music from Niki Pope, Macy Music, No One Knows and The Rhythm Methods, will get the crowds going before the main event kicks off at 6:30pm.

Danny Gabbidon, who is from Cwmbran, has played for Cardiff City, West Bromwich Albion, West Ham United, Queens Park Rangers, Crystal Palace as well as the Welsh national team.

To really add to the magic and the season of goodwill, Cwmbran Centre will kindly be making a donation to Cancer Research Wales, whom Daniel is an ambassador of.

Cwmbran Centre Manager, Rikki Teml, said “We are both thrilled and honoured to have Daniel Gabbidon as our special guest at our Christmas light switch on this year.

"Being from Cwmbran himself, we think our customers will love him! Our traditional light switch on is something that people look forward to all year long, including myself. There’s nothing we love more at Cwmbran than watching families having fun together.

"This year, not only will Santa be making a special appearance at the light switch on, but he will also be sticking around in his Grotto, meeting-and-greeting the good boys and girls of Cwmbran on various days right up until Christmas Eve. This truly magical experience will leave your family feeling full of festive joy, and each child that attends the grotto will receive a special gift from Santa.”
