REMEMBRANCE parades and services were held across Gwent on the weekend to mark the 100th anniversary since the ending of the First World War.

Sunday marked exactly 100 years since the armistice was signed to end one of the world’s bloodiest conflicts - First World War - which spanned continents and cost millions of lives.

And people were undeterred by the wet weather in Gwent and lined the streets to pay their respect to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

At each of the commemorative events held across Gwent, the following tribute was given: “They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.

“Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

“At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.”
