WALES 34 FIJI 38

THE World Cup is over for Wales after they were beaten by Fiji in a thrilling game in Nantes.

Wales scored five tries but it was an effort from Graham Dewes that earned the Fijians a last eight clash with South Africa.

Fiji had led 25-10 at the break but Wales roared back and it seemed they would seal their quarter-final spot when Shane Williams, Gareth Thomas and Mark Jones crossed early in the second half.

Fiji edged back in front but a Martyn Williams interception try looked like it would be the winner on 73 minutes, Wales having a three point lead.

But amazingly the underdogs found another try to put massive pressure on coach Gareth Jenkins, who had asked to be judged on his World Cup campaign.
