A spokesman from Gwent Police said: "At approximately 5.35pm on Monday, January 7, Gwent Police received a report of a road traffic collision on Corporation Road, Newport.
"A black Vauxhall Astra and a red Suzuki motorcycle were involved. The male motorcycle rider was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening."

THE TWO vehicles involved in the collision were a car and a motorcycle.
The motorcyclist has been taken away in an ambulance according to eyewitness reports.
The condition of the driver is not yet clear.
Gwent Police were contacted for comment.

A NEWPORT road has been closed following reports of a collision.
The incident occurred in Milner Street, near St Andrews School, and is affecting Corporation Road.
There are reports of slow traffic in the area as a result of the incident.
