A CAT was rescued this week after getting its head stuck in a commercial rat trap.
The RSPCA was contacted at 2.25am on Wednesday, after the cat was discovered near Langstone's Premier Inn, in Newport.
RSPCA officers work around the clock for animals in need and, within an hour, an inspector had rescued the cat and transferred him to a veterinary practice, where the rat box could be safely removed.

Fortunately, the cat's head had become stuck in a trap and not a bait box, so there was no risk the device had poisoned the animal.
The black male neutered cat was uninjured, but understandably shaken up by the ordeal and was dehydrated.
As the cat had no microchip, RSPCA Cymru have launched an appeal to seek his owner.
RSPCA inspector, Sophie Daniels, said: "This poor cat's head was completely wedged in this commercial rat box. It was lucky someone found him, as he was dehydrated and unable to free himself.
"The RSPCA works 24/7 for animals in need and I was pleased to be able to rush to the scene iin the early hours of the morning, and ensure this cat was safely and securely freed from this device.
"We'd love to reunite this cat with an owner, but there was no microchip. Anyone in the area owning a missing black, male neutered cat is urged to contact our inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018, so we can hopefully get this curious cat home!"
