POST Office services are now available at Cwm Library, writes Jack Mayo.

The new service, operated by the postmaster from Crumlin Post Office, began this week, following the former branch closing in November, forcing customers to journey to Ebbw Vale.

The postmaster will visit the community every Tuesday between 10am and 1pm. These weekly sessions will allow library visitors to access post office services and a range of banking services, including cash withdrawals and balance enquiries.

Blaenau Gwent MP Nick Smith said: “Knowing how important the village Post Office was to people in Cwm, I have been pressing the Post Office to restore access to their services.

“I am delighted that the Post Office has started a new outreach service from Cwm library."

Although this is currently weekly The Post Office is monitoring level of use, and will consider extending the service in future if there is enough demand.

Gareth Shylon, Post Office network operations manager, said: “We are confident that this new Hosted Outreach service at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.”
