AN ALASKAN Malamute and a Huskie are desperately looking for a new home, months after arriving at the RSPCA Newport Animal Centre.

Despite arriving at the centre several months ago, Storm, an Alaskan Malamute, and Axl, a Husky, are still waiting for their forever home.

Kennel and cattery supervisor Samantha Richmond said: “Unfortunately Storm and Axl have not had any interest since they came to us at the centre, which is so sad because they are such beautiful, energetic and wonderful dogs.

“We are looking for someone who has experience with the breed or similar breeds to them - and we hope owners are just around the corner for them both. We just need to get the word out there and we’re just appealing to everyone to help us find these two lovely dogs their forever homes.”

Storm is around three years old and came into RSPCA after his welfare needs were not being met.

Samantha added: “Storm has an amazing personality. He interacts with staff well - as he loves a good cwtch - and loves to explore and sniff around our paddock area.

ALSO IN THE NEWS:

“He walks well with other dogs, but would prefer to be the only pet in the home so he gets all the love and affection he deserves. He would be suited to older children who are used to lively dogs and can help with socialising and training.”

Axl is around six years old and came into RSPCA care as his owners were unable to provide the care he needed.

Samantha said: “Axl has settled in well at our centre and has come on leaps and bounds with the staff. Axl loves our off-lead area where he can spring around and explore, but he also enjoys long and stimulated walks where he practises his lead training which he is picking up brilliantly.

“Axl is very typical of the breed and exhibits many husky traits and would be suit best to someone who has experience with Huskies. Axl now walks with lots of the dogs in our care but we feel a pet-free home would be more suited to him.”

If you would like to express an interest in Storm or Axl please contact RSPCA Newport Animal Centre via 0300 123 0744. The centre is based on Hartridge Farm Road in Newport.
