THERE are currently traffic delays due to a road accident.
The A4042 between Newport and Cwmbran is closed, following an accident.
There is queuing traffic on the A4042 Northbound from Grove Park Roundabout to Croes-Y-Mwyalch Roundabout (A4051), caused by the accident.
There is a significant amount of traffic, with people being diverted to Newport city centre, causing gridlock.
In a statement, Gwent Police said: "Emergency Services are dealing with a Road Traffic Collision on Heidenheim Drive, Newport.
"The road is closed Northbound from Grove Park to Croesymwyalch and diversions are in place which may cause congestion.
"Please avoid the area if possible and find alternative routes."
