DELYTH Jewell has been returned as an assembly member (AM) for the South Wales East region following the death of Steffan Lewis AM.
The llywydd of the National Assembly for Wales, Elin Jones AM, has been informed by the regional returning officer for the region.
Ms Jewell will take her oath in due course.
Mr Lewis died last week, aged 34, following a 13-month battle with bowel cancer.
This week, tributes were paid to Mr Lewis at the Senedd.
Plaid leader Adam Price opened the the tributes, calling Mr Lewis "the nation's perfect son".
"Steffan sadly will not see the Wales of which he dreamed," Mr Price said. "But for his son Celyn and his generation, he has laid the foundation, and it’s we now who must build the road."
