BREXIT has dominated the news this week, with Theresa May's deal with the EU thrown out by MPs earlier in the week.

Although the prime minister survived a vote of no confidence in her government the following day, we're still no clearer on what happens now.

Here's what commenters said after the deal was rejected:

The size of the government's huge defeat suggests there's little appetite for compromise on a Brexit deal.

If that is the case, then there are only two ways out of this stalemate: a general election or another referendum.

Okay, you could argue there is no opposition, but anything is better than Mrs May's disasters, one after another.

Someone maybe needs to take the bull by the horns and say 'Brexit has failed' we either go again under the people who got us into this mess, or we have a general election with Corbyn coming onboard with another referendum in the mix.

He will follow his members in the end so no one can cry 'undemocratic'.

We need to move on, and quickly.

Boris Johnson is not the answer, he along with Farage are the architects of this mess, a new centric party under Chuka Umunna is not the answer as that would just be Tory-lite another Blairite.

There's no one else in the running but I dare say the far right groups will cobble together what will be UKIP Mk11, just a distraction for the Tories!

As our MPs are so determined to ignore the referendum result and want a re run, can we also have another one on the Welsh Assembly?

The case for the latter is stronger than the first given the wafer thin majority.

Sadly it seems that the democratic argument only fits when it suits the Labour Party.

The current mess is not the fault of Johnson or Farage, but May, who all along was a Remainer, so she presented a deal that meant we would give Europe £39 billion in return for nothing that looks like a fair deal.

Corbyn is not the answer, so where next? If there was a second referendum what would be the options? Agree to May's deal or say no to Brexit?

Anything other than Brexit will be the death of politics in Britain because the country voted to leave.

More people voted at the last General Election for the other parties, but the Tories are in power.

Why aren't the public demanding a second election because they didn't get what they wanted?

The solution is to dump May, put a Brexiteer in charge and then go and sort out Europe.

Remember Germany, Italy, Greece, Spain and Portugal are on the brink of collapse.

Can any of them afford not to receive a share of £39 billion???

Anyone seen David Cameron? Barely even mentioned in the press. Should never have gone to a referendum in the first place. All because of in-fighting in the Tory party.

The Exiles

May should have resigned a long time ago. This could have been done and dusted by now, but the establishment have other ways of kicking the can down the road to get the result they want.

The awful thing is if we don't leave on March 29 and Parliament is deadlocked, trust in politicians to implement the result of the referendum will damage integrity and send a clear message out to the world that Britain, the mother of democracy, has failed to uphold the will of the people.

Mab y mynydd

They, like the referendum voters, voted no to EU and now no to their deal either, what's to be discussed? We leave.

In any other walk of life if you made a decision that two years later turns out to be virtually impossible to implement to the degree you expected you'd give yourself the chance to reconsider.

It's common sense.

THIS week also saw the news that Marks and Spencer in Cwmbran could be closing, with the potential loss of 74 jobs.

Here's what commenters said on our website:

I was once told that Cwmbran is more of a browsing centre than a shopping centre. Great footfall, lots of folk wandering around looking, but they barely buy anything.

DeeGee321

Now that is a body blow for Cwmbran Shopping. When M&S left Commercial Street in Newport it was the final nail in the festering coffin that is Newport 'city' centre.

I much prefer this store and travel from Newport weekly to use it. Sad when any store is thinking of closing.

That's a shame for the staff and loyal customers. How long will it take on here for someone to mention free parking in Cwmbran? It's become the eighth wonder of the world.

mcnulty38

Sad news, I often travel to Cwmbran for shopping as I prefer it to Cardiff and Newport.

However, despite having been a loyal customer for many years, I mostly visit their food hall.

Not that fussed on the clothing and home departments, but I think it would be worthwhile considering the store remaining as a food hall only as is the case in Friars Walk, with clothing and home online which can be collected or returned from Cwmbran store also.

I think this could be a good idea.

I would hate to see it disappear altogether.

ulybabe

I cannot fathom this as the people of Cwmbran would have you believe the Centre is flourishing

Is it closing because they are not making a profit or they are not making enough profit?

The food department is always busy when I shop there every week. This going to be a blow to elderly people like me who depend on ready meals. I will not be travelling to Newport.
