ENTRY fees for a race to beat cancer are discounted, for this month only.

Cancer Research UK is inviting people to take part in its Cwmbran Race for Life, on June 16, with 30 per cent off entry throughout January.

People of all ages and abilities are welcome, with the race – from 11am on the day – from Northfields Recreation Ground, in Cwmbran.

This is a 5K run, of a scenic route, hosted by Cancer Research UK in partnership with Tesco, which puts the ‘fun’ in fundraising, with activities and stalls for spectators to enjoy.

Lisa Sweeting, Cancer Research UK’s Cwmbran event manager, said: “Our Race for Life events are fun, colourful, emotional and uplifting.

“You don’t have to be sporty to take part. You don’t need to train or compete against anyone else. All you need to do is go to the Race for Life website, pick an event, sign up and then have fun raising money in whatever way you like.”

The site is accessible for pushchairs and wheelchairs, with toilets available, and is opposite the train station or a 10-minute walk from the bus station.

Entry fee for the event is £14.99 for adults (18+) and young adults (16-17) who need consent from a guardian or supervisor, but not supervision.

Children’s entry (6-15) is £10 and they need consent and supervision on the day.

Entry is free for girls and boys under the age of six.

For January only, people can save 30 per cent on entry fees, using the code ‘RFL30’ which will make adult’s tickets £10.49 and children’s tickets £7.
