UKIP South Wales East AM David Rowlands has penned his latest Argus column:

NONE of us believed for a second that leaving the EU was going to be a simple process.

On the other hand it should not be as difficult has it now appears.

There are a number of reasons for this.

Firstly, Theresa May had no real plan going into the initial consultations, but the EU did, and that was to frustrate and ensure that the people of the UK were punished for having the temerity to vote to leave their cherished EU, for clarity its correct name is ‘The European Union of the Regions’.

It is not, and was never intended to be a Union of Nation States.

Secondly, those who are negotiating on our behalf are mainly ‘remainers’ and have never taken a tough line with the EU, thus giving them the advantage in all negotiations.

In fact I would go so far as saying we have been humiliated at every turn, and treated with contempt by the undemocratic, unelected and contemptuous leaders of the EU.

They are so obviously trying to ensure that the gravy train they have created will carry on giving them the lifestyle that we the British pay for.

The situation surrounding Brexit is a total shambles, it shows the quality of the politicians who now govern us.

Those who call for a second referendum are betraying the people of the United Kingdom by putting their personal preferences against those who democratically voted to leave the EU!

We have seen locally Labour MPs and AMs scurrying around Wales trying to make the argument for a second vote, and if that went against the Remainers how many more referendums would they call for - three, four, and five?

We have to remember that the Welsh Assembly was established on a much slimmer margin than four to five per cent.

When the next opportunity arises to elect those who will represent you remember it is Ukip alone of the major parties who have never wavered in their desire to give you the Brexit so many of you voted for.
