THE Met Office have issued a severe weather warning for snow and ice across the whole of Wales with temperatures set to plummet tonight and tomorrow.

The yellow warning is in place from midday today until 11am tomorrow.

The Met Office have warned people to expect: "Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services, some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces, and probably some ice on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths."

South Wales Argus:

On Tuesday, temperatures are expected to fall to 1°C to 2°C, with heavy snow expected to fall in Ebbw Vale and Abertillery.

Pontypool is expecting light snow, while sleet is expected in Monmouthshire and Caerphilly.

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, temperatures are expected to reach lows of -3°C.

The Met Office report said: "A band of rain and hill snow will move into western areas [on Tuesday]. Later in the afternoon and evening it will gradually spread east, possibly giving snow to lower levels.

"Maximum Temperature 7°C.

"Rain and snow clearing Tuesday night, then drier and brighter Wednesday.

"Largely dry and cloudy on Thursday but risk of overnight snow, clearing on Friday."
