TRIBUTES have been paid to a man described as a ‘true gent’ who was ‘willing to help anyone.’

Paul Edwards died suddenly at his home in Brynmawr on December 30, aged 50.

He leaves behind his wife, five children and eight grandchildren.

Mr Edwards’ wife, Helen, said Paul was a popular character and paid tribute to her husband describing him as ‘a loving husband and father.’

“He would always help anyone who needed it and was a character alright,” she said.

“We had two children of our own, but Paul took on and raised three children as his own.

“He was a loving husband and father.”

Mr Edwards’ daughter Michelle Gould spoke of how her father was “sadly gone but will always be missed”.

Mr Edwards worked as a tyre fitter.

His funeral is scheduled for 1.30pm this afternoon at Glencold Crematorium in Aberdare.

Mr Edwards’ wake follow the cremation and is due to take place at Nantyglo Rugby Club.

Martin Mills, chairman of Brean Seasonal Caravanners (BSC), of which Mr Edwards was an active member, also paid tribute to Mr Edwards, who he described as a "friendly and popular man".

“Paul was one of the first people my wife and I met when we arrived in Brean five years ago,” added Mr Mills.

“He had a beaming smile and the strongest Welsh accent I have ever heard.”

“Paul was a true gent who will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.”
