THE Welsh Government has announced school banding results today, with Blaenau Gwent improving from last year.

The rankings, from best to worst, are: Green, Yellow, Amber and Red.

Generally, Blaenau Gwent has done quite well, with three schools upgrading from ‘Yellow’ status to ‘Green’ status.

These schools are: Willowtown Primary School, Blaen-y-Cwm Primary School and Cwm Primary School.

One again, 11 schools in Blaenau Gwent achieved a ‘Yellow’ ranking but there are variations from last year. St Illtyd’s Primary School and Ebbw Far Learning Community (primary and secondary) have moved up from ‘Amber’ status.

The number of schools with ‘Amber’ status in Blaenau Gwent has halved. Although Rhos y Fedwen is still ‘Amber’ from last year, Bryn Bach Primary School has downgraded from ‘Yellow’ status.

Abertillery Learning Community (primary and secondary) and Brynmawr Foundation School are still in the low ‘Red’ ranking.
