In a statement, owner Vernon Tessio said: "This will undoubtedly come as a shock to everyone but, due to personal reasons, we made the tough decision and closed the doors to our beloved Cheese Church for the last time.

"We have been overwhelmed by the support for our little cheesy venture, but we can no longer continue the adventure. We wish to thank everyone who has shown love for our business during our short time serving up melted cheese to the good people of Newport and beyond. Your faces will be what we’ll miss most of all!"
